La La Laura

I've known Ms. Laura for about 4 years now. I've always known her to be upbeat, happy and looking at life on the upside. She is a hard worker, very creative and an amazing friend and wife. Not long ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Our small group of friends were shocked. To know that someone so young and full of life could be hit with breast cancer was yet another reminder that we are not invincible. Well, she beat it! She gave our Susan G. Komen Race another meaning. She is such a strong person! She kept everyone in the loop via facebook. Not long after her battle and still in recovery, she participated in the MS Tour to Tanglewood. I joined her and her husband on the ride and literally watched her kick my butt. I like to call her "Wonder Woman." She makes the average Joe (myself) feel...well, LAZY! She asked me to take Christmas portraits of her and her husband. Of course, I said YES! Here are a few snaps of them, not to mention a few of us on the ride for MS. Way to go Laura! You're amazing!

More then meets the eye!

When you book a photo shoot with me, there is more that goes into my portraits then the hour I spend with you. After our shoot, I load the photo's onto my computer and personally go through each one to decide what I can work with. This is typically why delivery time can take a few weeks. At places like Wal-mart or Portrait Innovations, what you see is what you get. If your looking for something easy, simple and affordable these are the places for you. I view my work as my personal art. You are my canvas. I want to share with you a photo I did recently. While it was good in the beginning, it wasn't exactly what I was looking for until I gave it to photoshop. In photoshop I was able to add some fun actions, take away a few things (babies are unpredictable) and crop it just the way I wanted. The finished product was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Viola!

Fall is upon us!

I just love fall! The air is crisp, the color's are amazing and the lighting...a photographer's dream! I prefer to do my outside photo shoots in the evening. There are less shadow's and the lighting is typically warm. It is a common misconception that with photography the lighting should be bright and a sunny is day is best. This is wrong. Overcast days are perfect. The blanket of white in the sky acts as a giant reflector producing rich colors and no shadows. I have a few weddings lined up this season and several portraits lined up. All of my first photo babies are turning one! It is so exciting to be the one to take their very first portraits and continue watching them grow. A child's first photographic experience is so important and I am so glad I am able to do this! I will upload photo's soon.
